Changes in memory and cognition often occur in normal aging. But some types of changes are not part of normal aging. If you or a loved one has noticed a decline in cognitive abilities that might not be part of normal aging, this might suggest the onset of a underlying brain disease. These changes might be accompanied by a deterioration in mood. Symptoms may include depression, sleeping problems and loss of appetite.
Even mild memory impairments should be taken seriously, with or without concurrent depressive symptoms. Early detection and diagnosis increase the number of treatment options available and can improve your or a loved ones’ quality of life.
Using modern diagnostic methods, we can determine whether symptoms result from a brain disease or from other medical or environmental causes. Our diagnostic methods include cognitive, neuropsychological and physical tests.
To ensure a comprehensive and complete diagnosis, multiple appointments may be required.
What we offer:
- Diagnostic consultation
- Evaluation of cognitive function, such as Alzheimer´s disease tests
- Examination of cerebrospinal fluid via lumbar puncture and blood tests
- Discussion of memory test results
- Individualized treatment plans, including therapy recommendations and prescription of Alzheimer’s disease drugs.
- Participation in clinical trials of for new drug therapies, including long-term monitoring of cognitive and medical condition
- Individual psychosocial counseling and information sessions
When you or a loved one requests an appointment, we´ll send you a questionnaire, which you'll need to complete and return. After receiving the completed questionnaire, we´ll contact you as soon as possible to arrange for a first appointment.
Please bring all relevant medical information along to your first appointment. This includes any previous medical reports, MRI or CT scans, and medication lists.
During the first appointment, we´ll perform a diagnostic consultation and ask you to complete a short memory test.
Depending on your results, further diagnostic steps may be discussed, such as scheduling an appointment for a lumbar puncture test.
Once all results necessary to provide a comprehensive and complete diagnosis are available, an appointment will be made to discuss your diagnosis and treatment options.
A copy of your diagnostic results will be sent to you and your referral medical practitioner.
