Murray Raskind, MD, Director of the Veterans Affairs (VA) Northwest Network Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center and Professor and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle
Dr. Raskind and his team investigate the CNS noradrenergic system and the alpha-1 adrenoreceptor specifically as potential therapeutic targets for treatment of PTSD. He conducted a number of RCTs in combat veterans and active duty soldiers examining the effect of the CNS active alpha-1 AR antagonist prazosin for PTSD sleep disruption, trauma nightmares, daytime hyperarousal symptoms and global clinical status.
